I’m pretty sure tumblr rolled back the censoring of nudity… I’d need to look back into it but pretty sure that happened?? Research completed: https://www.tumblr.com/staff/699744158019190784/this-is-not-a-drill-our-new-user-guidelines yes! They allow nudity. However, they do not allow “visual depictions of sexually explicit acts” because it’s “not feasible for us to safely and successfully support porn communities at this time” (CEO’s full statement explaining that position is linked in the post above…. That’s an… interesting read, kinda bleh)

Also, tumblr is still primarily not algorithm driven. They’ve had to add a for you tab for new users who don’t understand that how you discover new things is by following people and then following the people they reblog from, etc. and that that takes time to build and curate, but like… primarily it’s still your own curated feed, so you can be on a good side of tumblr by just… that being your orbit. Anyway, I love tumblr and its hellsite-ness.

TLDR: Basically tumblr was originally anything goes, they got bought by verizon and swung way too far with adult content bans, they’ve now found a middle ground that allows for adult content with labels so people who do not want to see such adult content are able to filter it out; there are a number of legal reasons that didn’t exist back when tumblr started for why platforms that are not dedicated porn platforms cannot host porn these days, which are not necessarily tumblr’s fault. Up to you after reading if you agree with them or not/think tumblr as a company should do more/less on that front.

Had to do a re-listen to the part of todays episode where SpongeBob was mentioned - realized Bex may not have been referring to the actual character, but still felt the need to rep my ppl nonetheless 🖤🩶🤍💜 (*insert “the more you know” meme here* )
